Principal Preparation

I have to admit that I was a little frustrated by the reading at first...because it was focused on K-12. Then, a light bulb went off in my head. I thought, "hey genius, this stuff applies to you TOO!". I thought the piece about principal preparation programs was especially valuable. We do have to make sure that we are well-rounded as professionals; otherwise, we will not be as effective and efficient as we could be.

  1. I am P-12, but I find myself saying the same thing. I think to myself, if I want to make a widespread difference (not that I can't in P-12) then I need to be thinking about principal preparation. That begins at the college level. Hmmm, or does it? Could those seeds begin growing in P-12?

  2. Jessica-

I had the same realization as you did when I was reading the chapters. I agree with you in that we need to be well-rounded individuals and sometimes that means knowing a little bit of everything - for example, assessment, budgeting, etc.
